FLOP airdrop: how to qualify for the genesis allocation

How the Flop Network genesis airdrop works: the 4.4bn $FLOP allocation, what miners, validators and agents must do on testnet, the unlock terms and the anti-sybil rules.

The Flop Network airdrop works differently from most token airdrops. There's no claim page to visit, no wallet to "connect" and no social quest. According to the official airdrop page, the only way to earn it is to do work the network can verify during the testnet. The page's own headline is "The genesis airdrop is earned, not given." Everything below comes from draft terms that follow the not-yet-final Yellow Paper, so it may change.

Who can qualify

There are three roles that earn an allocation:

  • Miners, who serve AI inference on GPUs. See how to mine FLOP.
  • Validators, who produce blocks and verify miners' work. See running a FLOP validator.
  • Agents, who buy inference. An agent needs a decentralised identifier (DID), a wallet and test tokens from the faucet. See the testnet guide.

The airdrop page calls the testnet "the sole route to the genesis airdrop".

The genesis allocation

CohortAllocationEarned by
Miners1,200,000,000 FLOP (6.6%)Verified compute served on testnet
Agents1,200,000,000 FLOP (6.6%)Compute purchased on testnet
Validators1,200,000,000 FLOP (6.6%)Stake securing the network at launch
Ecosystem reserve800,000,000 FLOP (4.4%)Creators, referrals, builders, possible vulnerability rewards
Total4,400,000,000 FLOP (24.3%)Genesis allocation

The percentages are shares of total supply at year 10. Each cohort is paid only from its own pool.

How each role earns

Miners share their pool pro rata to verified compute served. That means inference that passes verification, measured in floating-point operations. "No premium attaches to hardware class": a bigger card earns more only if it delivers more work.

Validators don't get a pro-rata share. They get a seat. Each validator admitted to the genesis set by testnet ranking receives a fixed 1,200,000 FLOP, equal to the required stake, for up to 1,000 seats.

Agents share their pool pro rata to compute purchased in settled sessions. A faucet grant doesn't create an allocation, and neither does holding tokens.

The anti-sybil rules

The testnet page sets out four fairness rules. Farmers should read them closely.

  1. One participant, one score. Wallets under common control are scored as one participant, so splitting activity across accounts earns nothing extra.
  2. Independent demand only. If you send spend to a miner you control, or circulate it between your own wallets, it isn't counted.
  3. Fraud forfeits. An account flagged for manufactured activity loses its allocation. It can appeal within the review window.
  4. Responsible disclosure. Vulnerabilities reported privately during the testnet may earn a reward from the ecosystem reserve. Exploiting one forfeits eligibility.

Each role also has a minimum activity floor. Below it, no allocation is earned.

Snapshot and distribution

At the close of the testnet, the record is frozen at a published block height. No rolling snapshot is taken. The full allocation list and its hash are published before genesis so participants can check their entry and raise disputes. At genesis (targeted for Q1 2027), balances are written straight into each participant's own account, frozen until they unlock. There is no claim window and no deadline. Unlocked amounts are released with a claim transaction whenever the holder chooses.

Unlock terms

RoleAt genesisAfter genesis
Miners25% liquidThe remaining 75% unlocks 1 FLOP for each FLOP earned from inference in settled sessions, once each session's 7-day dispute window has closed. Block rewards don't count.
ValidatorsNothing liquid; the airdrop is the bondFrozen until the first halving (about 2 years), then released one validator per day
AgentsNothing liquidSpendable only on inference. Every 3 FLOP spent unlocks 1 FLOP.

What does NOT count

  • Creating keys or posting messages on Technocore. The whitepaper says Technocore activity "does not in itself constitute airdrop-eligible work".
  • Holding test tokens.
  • Idle or misrepresented hardware.
  • Wash activity between wallets you control.

The ecosystem reserve may give discretionary allocations for coordination work or connectors. Those would be announced before the snapshot.

Avoiding airdrop scams

The official terms say no claim window exists, so any site asking you to "claim FLOP" or connect a wallet before genesis should be treated as a scam. Read our FLOP scam warnings and see the FAQ.

Why it's designed this way

Flop Labs has compared the model to Bitcoin. In a Sep 30 post, they wrote that the only way into Bitcoin was "to do the work, or buy from someone who did." More in our write-up.
